The West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) Notification likely to be released before mid-October 2016 for the Posts of Assistant Professors (APs) and the Librarians (Libs) in the Universities and Colleges of West Bengal State.
The West Bengal College Service Commission shall host Twentieth State Eligibility Test (SET) for the Posts of Assistant Professors (APs) and the Librarians (Libs) in the Universities and Colleges of West Bengal State in the Subjects cited here under:
English (01), Bengali (02), Sanskrut (03), Hindi (04), Urdu (05), Commerce (06), Economics (07), History (08), Philosophy (09), Political Science (10), Education (11), Chemical Sciences (12), Geography (13), Life Sciences (14), Mathematical Sciences (15), Physical Sciences (16), Sociology (17), Psychology (18), Library & Information Science (19), Physical Education (20), Electronic Science (21), Computer Science and Applications (22), Home Science (23) and Santhali (24) respectively.
Syllabus of WBCSC State Level Eligibility Test 2016
The Syllabi for all the Papers is that of UGC/CSIR, NET Examination. For Science Subjects, viz., Life Science, Chemical Science, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Science, the paper I will be according to syllabi of the University Grants Commission – NET, the Paper II will be from the Syllabi of Section (B) of Paper I of CSIR and Paper III will be from the Syllabi of Paper II of CSIR. West Bengal College Service Commission shall conduct in December 2016 the WB State Eligibility Test 2016 based on the Subject opted for by the candidates as per following Pattern:

The University Grants Commission has determined the Minimum Qualifying Marks for the candidates to be considered eligible for being awarded Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor as hereunder:

|Step I||It is mandatory for the candidates desiring to appear in the State Eligibility Test to secure the Minimum Qualifying Marks to be considered Assistant Professors and Librarians as herein above.|
|Step II||Amongst those candidates who have cleared Step I, Merit List would be drawn up (Subject-wise and Category-wise) by using the Aggregate Marks secured by the Candidates in the above Three Papers.|
|Step III||Top 15% Candidates (for each Subject and Category), from the Merit List mentioned under Step II shall be declared State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) Bureau for Assistant Professors and Librarians only.|
West Bengal College Service Commission would draw up a Separate Merit List for Assistant Professors and Librarians from amongst the State Eligibility Test Qualified candidates figuring in the Merit List under Step III.
Furthermore, the West Bengal College Service Commission makes the aforestated Qualifying Criteria FINAL & BINDING on the Candidates.
Age Limit: No Upper Age Limit.
The Candidate must have in possession Master’s Degree in a relevant Subject with Minimum 55% Marks (50% Marks in respect of SC/ST/OBC/PwDs Candidates) or an Equivalent Grade preceded by at least a Second Class 03-Years’ Bachelor’s Degree from any Indian University / Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission or an Equivalent Degree from a Foreign University.
The Candidates pursuing Post Graduation are also eligible to appear in the West Bengal College Service Commission SET subject to the condition that they must obtain their Post Graduate degree with 55% or 50% marks, whichever is applicable, within two years from the date of holding of the SET.
- The Candidates having Master’s Degree in Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bio-Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Physiology and Biological Sciences are Eligible to apply for Life Sciences in SET-2016.
- For Mathematical Sciences, the candidates having Master’s Degree in Pure and Applied Mathematics or Statistics are eligible.
- For Life Sciences, the Candidates having Master’s Degree in Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bio-Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Physiology are Eligible.
- For Library Science, Candidates having M.Lib./M.LIS. Degree are Eligible.
- For Physical Education, Candidates having B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. are Eligible.
